PE3 Fitness: Students will be engaging in an overall understand of the different methods of establishing a physical healthy lifestyle. Students who enroll into this course will need to come prepared to work hard each and every class. This course is not sport based but 100% fitness based and every student will need to understand that high intense movement will occur daily for each class. Units will be based on CrossFit, Weight Training, Sparring, and Insanity workouts. Students will need to lead different classes in these different disiplines. Students do not need and prior knowledge or fitness level to sign up for this course, just students interested in improving their overall fitness levels for their futures.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of techniques from a mixture of martial arts traditions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete against each other. Students in this course will study the history of MMA, perform MMA specific workouts, and train in striking, clinching, and grappling techniques used in the sport of MMA. Assessment will be based citizenship, participation, projects, and skills assessment.
